Senior Volunteer Ride Program
The Senior Volunteer Ride Program is a transportation service available to anyone 60 years of age and older.  The program, which is free of charge to its users, is funded through gifts, free will envelopes, memorials, community organizations, etc.  The program is operated using volunteer drivers who are reimbursed $1.50 for four miles of in town driving and $.26 every mile after.  The service runs Monday-Friday for anything from medical appointments, hair appointments and shopping trips to visiting friends and relatives.  Community members may get rides to such places as Mankato, Rochester, and the Twin Cities.  This ride program, now in its eleventh year of operation, is overseen by an eight member board in the four community area (Madelia, St. James, Odin, and Butterfield).  For more information in Madelia contact: Mel Brandt at 642-8237 or Ride Coordinator at 642-3271(Luther Memorial Home).
