Madelia and the surrounding area are fortunate to have a progressive health care delivery system. The city offers a full range of medical care via a hospital, various health clinics to a long term care facility. Area health care services are:

The Madelia Community Hospital is a JACHO accredited Critical Access Hospital including 24-hour emergency care, comprehensive medical surgical and radiological capabilities. MCH also provides Physical, Occupational, Massage and Speech Therapy services. During 2006/07 the hospital is undergoing a major expansion renovation, which will include the addition of eight private patient rooms. The Madelia Community Hospital Hospice Program to maintain independence for the specialties of a team of health care professionals.

Home Health Care is available through the Madelia Community Hospital. They offer home health care 7 days a week and 24 hours on-call services. The qualified staff includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, physical, speech and occupational therapists, home health aides and homemakers. Services offered range from professional nursing care to light housekeeping.

Madelia's Medical Clinic, staffed by three physicians and two nurse practioners, provide complete family care, preventive care and a full range of medical testing. The community also provides both top quality ground and air ambulance services. The Madelia Medical Center also houses Appletree Dental and Madelia Optometric Inc.

The Luther Memorial Home, an intermediate and skilled care facility with Medicare certification, provides the community with long term nursing care, social services, physical therapy aides along with a variety of other services.

Great Lakes Management has developed two different apartment complexes in the City of Madelia. There is a complex for people over the age of 55 and is located near the Luther Memorial Nursing Home. The other complex is attached to the Madelia Community Hospital and offers many amenities including meals, morning wake up checks and call buttons which allows them to connect to the nurse's station at the hospital.

Hartshorn Manor offers seniors and handicapped individuals the opportunity for independent living in Madelia while still providing some of the necessary services needed by the residents.

Madelia also offers REM-Madelia, a group home for developmentally disabled adults age 16 years and older. REM focuses on teaching self-help, independent living skills, and encourages community involvement by the residents. CORE (Community Options and Resources) has two homes in Madelia.

Madelia participates in the Senior Nutrition Program. This program provides nutritionally balanced meals for seniors in both the congregate and home environments.
The Rochester Mayo Clinic and the University of Minnesota Hospital and Medical Facilities are both within 2 hours of Madelia for those residents in need of the specialty services provided by these facilities
